 Nagaski Prefecture is on the westernmost side of Kyushu Island, and Unzen stands at he center of Shimabara Peninsula. Azumaen ryokan is located about 2 hrs drive by express bus from Nagasaki Airport.
You can also get to Unzen by public bus about 100 min from Nagasaki Station. The hot spring of Unzen is characterized by its sulfurous hot water with high acidity which is uniquely high comparing to hot springs in Europe where the hot spring treatment is actively performed. Room type at Azumaen is basically Japaense style, but ryokan has also Japanese style rooms with western beds and special rooms for VIP. View from rooms are fantastic.
